How do we get more power?
Predictably, Reason says government spending is not the answer.
First of all, I think he is being a bit facetious when he claims that the Apollo project was a "technological dead-end." Here is a short list of some technologies that were spun-off from the program:
Yeah, not all of these are mind-blowing (who could have ever envisioned an "electronic food warmer" without the space program???), but still...
I think a better way of looking at this is:
"Where would we be in our search for alternative energy if we had spent the $345 billion dollars we've burned through in Iraq on such a project?"
My guess? We'd be driving those cars from Back to the Future that run on garbage by now.
