HP, Dell, IBM and leading suppliers release electronics industry code of conduct

This is a great idea, and long overdue. However, the cynic in me sees no real penalties or threats of penalties for non-conformance, and statements like this don't exactly buoy my confidence level:

"Manufacturer insistence on strong code compliance is an efficient and effective way to drive social performance improvements. We look forward to strong stakeholder engagement and to working with these companies to assure compliance with the code."
